Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc.<\/strong> successfully conducted the <strong>In-House Research Capability Training and Workshop<\/strong> on <strong>October 17, 2025<\/strong>, at the <strong>JBL Hall<\/strong>. The event carried the theme <em>\u201cCultivating a Culture of Research: Advancing Excellence through Mentorship, Creativity, and Innovation\u201d<\/em> and was <strong>spearheaded by Dr. Roderick R. Germo<\/strong>, <strong>OIC-Research Coordinator<\/strong>, together with his <strong>dedicated research team<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day-long program gathered faculty members, student researchers, and institutional leaders to enhance research competence and encourage innovation in maritime education and allied disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program began with solemnity through the <strong>Invocation<\/strong>, <strong>Philippine National Anthem<\/strong>, <strong>Iloilo Hymn<\/strong>, and <strong>JBLFMU Hymn<\/strong>, followed by the <strong>Safety Protocol<\/strong> presented by <strong>2M Karl Danielle H. Sira, MMM, CCSSM<\/strong>, Safety Officer. <strong>Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM<\/strong>, Administrator of JBLFMU (Arevalo), delivered the <strong>Opening Remarks<\/strong>, emphasizing the university\u2019s continuing thrust toward academic distinction through relevant and impactful research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" data-id=\"2107\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2107\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" data-id=\"2108\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_6-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2108\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In his <strong>Overview Message<\/strong>, <strong>Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas<\/strong>, OIC-Director for Research and Community Extension Services, underscored the vital importance of collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning in nurturing both faculty and student researchers toward excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_20-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2110\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83d\udd39<\/strong><strong> Plenary Session: Strengthening Research Competence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The plenary sessions featured a remarkable lineup of distinguished speakers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. Felipe P. Vista IV<\/strong>, University Director for R&amp;D Services, <strong>Northern Iloilo State University<\/strong>, discussed the intricacies of <strong>Qualitative Research<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_18-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2112\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Engr. Sammy V. Militante, PCpE<\/strong>, Director of the <strong>Statistical and Knowledge Management Center<\/strong>, <strong>University of Antique<\/strong>, tackled <strong>Quantitative Research and Creative Works<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_13-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2113\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. John Erwin P. Pedroso<\/strong>, Associate Dean, <strong>College of Education\u2013Graduate School, West Visayas State University<\/strong>, inspired participants through his session on <strong>Innovation in Research<\/strong>, highlighting creativity, relevance, and the transformation of ideas into impactful solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/research.jblfmu.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image_7-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2115\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An <strong>Open Forum<\/strong> followed, where participants actively engaged with the speakers, leading to meaningful discussions on research challenges and innovations.
