One of the higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines-Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), conducted a free International Conference on Extension (IConEx) 2021 with the theme, “Addressing Sustainable Development Goals towards Equity, Empowerment, and Gender Equality” last August 19 – 20, 2021 via zoom. The international conference had more than 650 researchers, academicians, extension officers, and administrators from different colleges, universities, research organizations, and government agencies from other countries and here in the Philippines. Foreign and local participants presented different studies. The research Coordinator in the person of Dr. Rolando A. Alimen presented the study entitled “Adopt-A-tree Program of the Maritime University: Learnings and Challenges towards Environmental Education (EE) and Global Warming Mitigation (GWM)” at the international conference. This study was co-authored also by Mr. Robert O. Parcia, administrator of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Iloilo City, Philippineds. During the closing ceremonies, Dr. Alimen was awarded as “Best Presenter in Environment, Science, and Sustainable Development” last August 20, 2021.
