JBLFMU-Arevalo Reaps Awards in PSERE Conference 2022

Three faculty members of JBLFMU-Arevalo presented their research papers during the 29th Annual Philippine Society for Educational Research and Evaluation (PSERE), Inc. Conference with the theme: “A Webinar on Pandemic Times and Beyond in the Academe: Building Communities of Practice in Research” held virtually last May 19-20, 2022.

 

Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, JBLFMU-Arevalo Research Coordinator, shared a group-authored paper entitled “Mental Health of Filipino Seafarers during Pandemic: The Contributory Factors and the Strategies Applied Onboard Ship.” Dr. Bernardita S. Somosa and Mrs. Cecilia C. Salinas presented their studies on the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) E-module use in improving the academic performance of JBLFMU-Arevalo students in an online mode of teaching and learning in the courses Purposive Communication and Understanding the Self, respectively.

 

Dr. Geneva M. Eler, JBLFMU Graduate School Dean, and Dr. Roderick R. Germo, JBLFMU-Arevalo Research Instructor, also participated in the conference where both of them were awarded as Professional in Educational Research given by PSERE and Philippine Academy of Fellows in Research and Evaluation (PAFERE), Centro Escolar University, Manila. The video on best practices in research of Dr. Sarinas also garnered 3rd place for Best in Video Presentation.

JA holds Intellectual Property Management Webinar

The Lacsonian Community gathered today, February 4 2022, to expand their knowledge on intellectual property management from 9:00 AM until 11:50 AM. The attendees of the webinar were the selected faculty and staff from JE, JBLFMU-Molo, JBLFMU-Bacolod, JBLFMU-Arevalo, and students of Graduate School from Manila and MARINA, Senior High School (SHS), Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT), and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Crim). Dr. Emely J. Palomero, the JBLFMU-Arevalo School Registrar, delivered her welcome message to the participants. The Resource Speaker, Ms. Marianne T. Bebit who is a registered nurse and an Intellectual Property (IP) Field Operations Specialist presented detailed information on how to register in Trademark, Copyright, and Utility Models/ Inventions. A 15-minute open forum followed the insightful talk by the lecturer. Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, the JBLFMU-Arevalo Research Coordinator, delivered his closing remarks expressing his gratitude to those who supported and helped make the virtual webinar successful. Dr. Sarinas also added that this event is one of the series of webinars that will be a stepping stone of the University for the CHED Autonomous Status.

JA Holds Journal Pub Webinar

JBLFMU – Arevalo Research and Development Center held a webinar via zoom entitled “Publication in Scopus and Clarivate Analytics Indexed Journals” last December 10, 2021, from 9:30 AM until 11:45 AM. Selected faculty and staff from JBLF, JBLFMU – Arevalo, JBLFMU – Molo, and JBLCF – Bacolod, and selected students from Senior High School, Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT), Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Crim), and Graduate School participated in the said activity.

Capt. Alfred G. Espinosa, Ph.D., the JBLFMU – Arevalo Administrator, welcomed the participants. Meanwhile, Dr. Melchor M. Magramo, the JBLFMU Research and Extension Director, delivered a special message to the participants. The resource speaker was Dr. Resurreccion B. Sadaba, a 2014 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teacher of the Philippines (Higher Education), a Full Professor, and a Scientist I of the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV).

Dr. Sadaba presented tips about publishing research papers in Scopus and Clarivate Analytics indexed journals. Before the program ended, an open forum was held. This allowed the participants to ask questions and clarifications regarding the publication of research papers.

Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, the JBLFMU – Arevalo Research Coordinator, delivered his closing remarks where he thanked the people who supported the event and helped make it a successful one.

JBLFMU-Arevalo Research and Development Center spearheads the Research Capability Training and Proposal Presentation and Critiquing

The JBLFMU-Arevalo Research and Development Center spearheads the Research Capability Training on Action, Feasibility, Applied, and Developmental Research Designs and Research Proposal Presentation and Critiquing held last November 19, 2021 through a virtual zoom conference.

Two seasoned researchers were the resource speakers during the training.

Dr. Aris C. Larroder, a Faculty of Philippine Science High School – Western Visayas, talked about research designs particularly Action, Feasibility, Applied, and Developmental, while Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, JA Research Coordinator, discussed the basic concepts in research.

The department heads, faculty, staff, students, and JA partner schools attended the said virtual training.
